Non-member/guest sailing
There are 3 rules that always apply for allowing non-members to sail:
1) the orange sheet must be filled out and gets a non member up to 2 sails
2) after that, the non-member must obtain a valid Rec ID card and
3) be registered for sailing program.
4) These guidelines apply to all guests
We do strongly encourage membership in OCSC with payment of the annual dues to facilitate maintenance and safety of the equipment.
Keys to the OBCC side gate
A list of all members who have been given keys is maintained.
All keys are dispensed with the understanding that they are your responsibility, are not to be duplicated or handed out to any other person who does not have approved capt, or co capt status, and must be turned in if membership is not renewed.
Keys do not give access to the boat club building. They only provide access to the dinghy. Ossining boat club access is only permitted if you have a member present.
We have put together several updated rules and a new procedure that must be followed by the captains when taking the boat(s) out.
As a captain using community boats it is your responsibility to judge level of expertise of your crew and act accordingly.
Effective immediately every captain should post their sail times 1 hour in advance. That gives the members time to get in touch and express their interest in sailing. If the weather and or a conflict makes it impossible for you to go on the sail it is the responsibility of the captain to notify the members who have signed up for that sail. Please do not wait until the last minute to sign out a boat it is confusing to the members and unfair to the club.
BEFORE the sail begins you must call the Front Desk at the community Center at 941-3189 and give a list of every person on the boat. That includes all members of the club, family members and the occasional guest. Every person on the boat is required to have a rec card issued from the Community Center and you will be required to give the ID number. If someone is a guest an orange form must to completed and left on the clipboard in the locker. A copy of the form will be posted in the locker at the OBCC for your referral. The Community Center is open from 9:00AM -10:00PM Monday - Saturday and the information is to be given to the person at the front desk. On Sunday the form in the locker MUST be filled out before the sail and left in the locker.
